My 4 Favorite Dinner Party Venues in NYC

Ah, the dinner party — an elusive tradition that brings people together in style. With good food, great drinks, and even better company, a dinner party is a multi-faceted type of event that never fails to provide memories for a lifetime. Whether it’s a holiday, a celebration, or a simple gathering of friends and family, there are a lot of factors that go into planning an amazing dinner party that your guests will be talking about the next day, starting with the venue.

That’s right, I’m talking about dinner parties outside of your own home! With the pandemic calming down, people are more ready than ever to get outside and mingle in beautiful venues! In NYC, there are obviously hundreds of possible venues to choose from, so it can definitely be a bit overwhelming to pick!

As an NYC event planner, I have had years of experience planning smaller scale dinner parties throughout New York and over time I have come to develop a fondness for certain spots, ones that I will always turn to when I get a client looking to host a dinner party in NYC.

So, without further ado, here are my top 4 favorite dinner party venues in New York City!

Il Buco

Il Buco is one of the most beloved restaurants in New York City — boasting an eclectic Mediterranean menu. Part Italian, part Spanish, part invention, Il Buco is dedicated to sourcing the greatest ingredients both locally and in Italy. The venue is rustic, timeless, and has Italian family energy to it that would make any guest hungry upon arrival.  In New York City there are four private spaces available offering both indoor and outdoor space for 10 - 60 guests. The wine cellar is one of my favorite rooms in New York.

Sona

SONA is a new player in town and reimagines the wonders of India in a space that evokes a bygone era of a boisterous yet elegant India—all within the heart of New York. The venue is sophisticated, cultured, and perfect for an upscale dinner party in the city. Mimi’s at Sona can host events for 10-24 guests.

Polo Bar

The Polo Bar, by Ralph Lauren, offers a one-of-a-kind private dining experience that offers a classic, mouthwatering menu that is universally loved alongside a bespoke menu of handcrafted cocktails and vintage vines. This is a great venue for an elegant, All-American dinner party, who can appreciate the connection to an iconic name in fashion.

Kyma

Kyma is a Greek restaurant located in the Flatiron district known for the usual Hellenic classics like Greek salad, grilled octopus, and branzino. The perfect dinner party venue for seafood lovers and international travel enthusiasts. The venue is bright, clean, and can accommodate groups of all sizes.  It’s the ideal space for a birthday brunch or your rehearsal dinner.  Be sure to check out their new location in Hudson Yards.
