3 Tips for Planning An Elevated Children’s Party

Remember the good old days when children’s parties consisted of balloons, streamers, and a cake? Talk about a simpler time! While many parents still keep it traditional when it comes to celebrating their little ones, others are following the ever-growing trend to go all out.

Let’s be honest, sometimes a child’s birthday is just as much about the parents and their friends as it is about the child. With celebrity parents setting trends on social media, there is most certainly a desire to impress, even if the kids might be too young to take notice. Hey, any excuse to have a party is good enough for me!

As an event planner, I have had the privilege of helping many clients plan their kids’ special day, and honestly, I absolutely love to work on these types of events. They are so much fun! There is so much opportunity for creativity when it comes to kids’ events. They can be bright, colorful, playful, and still very elevated for the “grown-ups” who attend. From birthday parties to bat mitzvahs — if you’re looking to plan an elevated kids party (especially if you live in the DMV Area), here are some tips to help you get started!

Theme Selection: Keep it simple!

When it comes to planning an elevated childrens’ party, I usually like to stick to very simple themes rather than base the event off of a popular movie or TV show. If you want a lot of flexibility when it comes to decor and accessories, I recommend sticking with a color palette as the overarching theme. Hint hint: pastels are very in right now for children’s events!

With three locations in Tribeca, Arlington, and Chevy Chase, your kids will absolutely love playing, learning, and celebrating in the super cool amenities they have to offer for birthdays and more. I highly recommend checking them out

All About the Table Settings

No matter what theme you decide to go with for your kid’s party, Coterie Party Goods has got you covered for the table settings and whimsical decor. I know I mentioned balloons and streamers above, but their selection takes it to the next level! I absolutely love their party fans for a burst of color through the venue.

Don’t Forget The Party Favors

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, a good party begins and ends with handouts for the guests. Sometimes it’s a drink, sometimes it’s hors d'oeuvres, but for kid’s events, I love providing party favors from The Dough Project! It’s simple, gender-neutral, and let’s face it...universally liked! Who doesn’t love a little Playdough from time to time? I love this brand as a natural alternative to traditional Playdoh and your kids will too!
